What is HomeDataRoom?
HomeDataRoom is a gaming community centered around playing games, building projects, hosting and serving games/game servers, and having fun.
We provide resources to our community to make project development, server hosting, networking, and operating so much simpler and more accessible to everyday people.
What is our goal?
Our goal is to provide a place for gamers and people to hangout and play games. But more than that, we want HomeDataRoom and its community to be a place for gamers and people to take and share knowledge, resources, and ideas. Whether it's a cool glitch you found in a game like Call of Duty, or a new application that makes hosting game servers simpler, our goal is to make that knowledge more accessible to people, regardless of skill or ability.
A Brief History of HomeDataRoom
The homedataroom.com domain was bought back in 2020 when I, NextPancake401, was in high school; I used it to learn how to use DNS, SRVs, MX records and so on. I didn't do much with the domain until 2021, when a friend of mine convinced me to setup a Java Minecraft server and I used the domain to simplify connecting to the server. From that point on, I used the domain to provide services such as more Minecraft servers, 7 Days to Die servers, and much more to people.
Around the same time of setting up the Minecraft server, I was getting into self hosting and building my own home lab. The home lab started out small and pretty basic, but as the years went on, the amount of computers and equipment grew and so did my knowledge and understanding of virtualization, networking, Linux administration, and computers.
